volume 1 , season 6

› OLIVE RUBS HER LITTLE SWEATY PALMS on the fronts of her jeans, her eyes scanning the hallways. She was waiting for something scary to pop out, like the final girls in all the horror movies she and Dean watched.

Lisa thought it was odd that a monster hunter and a supernatural child found genuine suspense in campy eighties horror movies. But Dean and Olive bonded over the idea of the bad guys always losing.

Olive felt that feeling now. Yeah, she was scared as shit for a six year old playing cat and mouse with the very first Vampire to walk the Earth, but if there was anything she knew about her dad Dean? It's that they'll win.

Gwen walked beside her, gun raised. She kept glancing at the little girl, she was cautious of her. Which Olive found funny because she was half her side and wearing sparkly pink shoes.

They hadn't spoken to each other, which was fine because Olive was too busy worrying if her dad and Sam were okay. They were running straight for the Alpha, while she and Gwen walked the perimeter.

Gwen looks down at Olive, face blank, "Dean's so uptight, I would've never guessed he'd let his six year old run around hunting monsters. Then again, it's a Campbell thing, starting them young."

Olive shifts awkwardly, "I'm not a Campbell."

"Campbell blood is Campbell blood, even if it's not your last name," Gwen corrects.

"No, I mean, I'm adopted."

Her face scrunches. "Oh," She shifts away. Olive takes it as a sign to squeeze her knife tighter.

Dean warns her not to talk about her bloodline with others. He tells her that the Winchester name will protect her among hunters. If they find out she's more than that, she'll lose her safety among the hunters that kill people like her.

"Dean's my dad," Olive adds quickly, "He protects me."

Gwen took that as a warning, "I overhead Samuel say something about Angels and you. Are you some kind of Angel baby?"

"No. ." Olive says, "I don't have wings."

She hums, "There's definitely more to you. I saw you levitating that knife in the woods. There have been theories about you, but no one really knows. What are you? A baby witch?"

"Why? Planning to hunt me too?"

Olive doesn't like being drilled with questions. Whether it was because she couldn't keep a secret, or because she didn't know who to trust, it didn't matter.

Your secrets are your advantage.

Gwen scoffs. "Wow, Dean really has influenced you. Not all hunters shoot first and ask questions later, kid."

"Most do. And my dad hasn't been wrong about hunters before." She turned to face her, "He doesn't want me here but I'm pretty stubborn." She admits.

"Think I'd shoot a kid?" Gwen huffs.

Olive looks at Gwen's hand, which was hovering over the knife in her beltloop since they went got paired together.

The hunter follows her line of sight and drops her hand instantly, guilty.

They continue down the hallway in silence.

Gunfire startles them, together they run down the hallway towards the shouts of hunters. With a flash of light, three demons appeared inside of the room, holding the Alpha in place.

Christian's eyes were a haunting black, all of the demons in the room made Olive uncomfortable.

There was one supernatural creature that will forever make Olive falter. Black eyes will haunt her forever.

The sound of slow clapping made everyone in the room look up, a short man dressed in a black suit grins down at them, amused, "Well that was dramatic."

Olive runs across the room to Dean, who pulled her up. She wraps her legs around his waist, and Dean keeps his arms safely around her, glarig at the demon.

"Crowley?" Sam scoffs in disbelief.

"Hello, boys." His eyes flanking towards Olive, "Hello, Olivia. What an unexpected treat."

"Bring Christian back, now." Samuel demands.

"I'm sorry?"

"My nephew! The one you just crammed a demon into!"

"Oh. No. I had him possessed ages ago." Crowley states. "Samuel, really. I keep an eye on my investments."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait. You two know each other?" Dean bellows.

"Not in the biblical sense. More of a business relationship, I'd say." The demon dismissed.

"You're Crowley's bitch." Sam says in realization.

"It's not what you think--"

"It's precisely what you think." Crowley tells. "That Alpha he's caught me is getting him a gold star."

"Since when do you give a crap about vampires?"

"Since, uh. .what's today? Friday?" He pokes Dean's chest. "Since mind your business."

"Since Alpha's can lead him to Purgatory." Olive responds bitterly.

Crowley stops in front of her, eye-level. "Aren't you an adorably smart little nuisance."

"The jig is up, Crowley. You may as well share with the class." Sam states. "You wanna tell us why?"

Crowley turns on his heel. "Isn't it obvious? Location, location, location." He responds. "I'm a developer. Purgatory is vast, underutilized and hell-adjacent, and I want it."

"What for?"

"Best shut your gob." Crowley dismissed Dean. "Employees don't question management."

"We ain't your employees." Dean snaps.

"Of course you are. Have been for some time, thanks to Gramps." They all turned to Samuel, who couldn't seem to form words for a solid response. "I don't keep Captain Chromedome around for his wit, do I? Samuel knows things. More than any of you, actually. Walking encyclopedia of the creepy and the crawly. And I knew you two were so hung up on family loyalty nonsense. . .he said jump, you get froggy."

"Yeah, well, games over."

"Yeah, well, afraid not." He states. "Not if you wanna see Sam's soul ever again. Not if you want a dozen demons a day after you for little Olivia here."

She pales. Demons? She barely liked people.

"You're bluffing." Sam says.

"Tell them, Samuel."

Samuel hesitates. "He pulled us both back, me and Sam."

"What? You knew?!"

"No. No Cas says it takes big-time mojo to pull that off." Dean shakes his head. "And you're just a punk-ass crossroads demon."

"Was a punk-ass crossroads demon. Now? King of Hell. Believe me, I've got the mojo." Crowley says smugly. "I snap my fingers, Sam gets his soul back. Olivia gets a few more years off the guillotine. Everyone's happy. Or, you can be you, and I can shove Sam back in the hole, let every monster rip her to shreds."

He turns to Sam. "Can't imagine what it's like in there. And I can imagine so many things. So we clear? Me, Charlie, you angels? Job's simple enough. Bring me creatures. Aim high on the food chain, please. Everybody wins. It's been a pleasure. See you soon."

He gives Olive a fingered wave before disappearing on the spot.

"It's time to go. Get the van." Samuel orders Gwen.

Gwen shifts angrily. "You're letting a demon call the shots?"

"Nothing's changed, we hunt. Period." Samuel states. "Don't worry about him, I'll take care of it."

Gwen doesn't move from her spot beside Olive and Dean, causing Samuel to grow impatient as he packed up his things.

"You trust me or not? Get the van, Gwen." He said lowly. Olive couldn't help but flinch at the tone as Gwen turns on her heel and stalks out of the room.

"Working with a demon, huh? You're not who I thought you were." Sam says bitterly.

"You don't know anything about me, son." Samuel snaps.

"So, what's so important that you're the King of Hell's cabana boy, huh?" Dean questioned. "What did he offer you? Girls? Money? Hair?"

"A nice personality?" Olive chimes innocently, high-fiving Dean.

"I got my reasons." Samuel states, bringing seriousness back to the conversation as he moves to leave.

Dean, who still had Olive in his arms, stepped in front of the door.

"You gonna make a move with your little girl on your hip? Go ahead." Samuel sneers.

"Or what?" Dean challenged, "Because I have half a mind to let her blast you right now."

Olive holds her hand up, and Samuel steps back. It was all for show. Dean would never actually let Olive hurt Samuel, but he didn't know that.

"Or nothing. I'm not gonna do anything to you, Dean. You boys. . .you're my family. So the way I see it, you got two choices. Put a bullet in your grandfather, or step aside."

Sam instantly raises his gun, but Dean tiredly pushed it down, "He sold us out!" He says, bewildered.

"I know." Dean says firmly. "Let it go." He turns back to Samuel, trying to rid his face of any emotion. "Get out of here."

Samuel didn't have to be told twice, and without so much as a goodbye he leaves the room, leaving three tired Winchester's behind.

"So, what now?"

"We can't work for Crowley, man." Dean shakes his head.

"You sure about that?"

"Don't think you understand. Demons bone you every time." He emphasized.

Olive nods rapidly in agreement.

"Oh, no, I get it. Believe me I do." Sam says. "Just running the math. Do we have another choice? After he threatened, Olive?"

"Yeah, that was scary." Olive shutters.

"We can stab him in the throat." Dean suggests.

"And get my soul back how?" Sam pressed. "Just saying. Seems like we gotta play ball. At least for the moment."

"Man. .I have done some stupid things in my time, but punching a demon's clock?" He clenched his jaw.

Olive nods, "We need to find his clock and punch the bird out of it." She says serious, punching her fist into her palm.

Sam blinks in response, "Look. Just till we find another way."

"And then?"

"And then we track Crowley down, give that son of a bitch what's coming to him," Sam vows. "You with me, Dean?"

He looks to Olive, waiting for her confirmation. She gives him a soft nod and he sighs, "Let's do it."
